Raised/Razed Movie Premiere

04/30/2022 08:00 PM - 09:15 PM ET

Description

Maupintown Media and VPM present the premiere of Raised/Razed, a documentary film about the life and history of Vinegar Hill, written and directed by Lorenzo Dickerson and Jordy Yager.

Raised/Razed takes us deep into one of Charlottesville’s oldest African American neighborhoods, charting the lives of residents over nearly a century as they built prosperity in the face of racially discriminatory policies at every level and a city government that saw them as the only thing between it and progress.

Bring a warm layer and join us for an outdoor screening at the Jefferson School, in the heart of Vinegar Hill. We will provide 200 chairs on a first-come first-served basis, so if you have a portable chair, we encourage you to bring it.

Doors open at 7pm, with food for purchase from Vegan Comfort Soul Food and Caked Up Cville. The film begins at 8pm, with a Q&A to follow at 9:15pm.
